I was going through the news and found this article...all i can say is Helen Thomas is one brave woman! of course she made a mistake by using the word "Jew" because jews arent the issue. Zionists are the issue. i think sometimes people get confused with the difference between the 2. i love Jewish people! they went through a lot because of their religion. however zionists are another story!
So Helen Thomas, your awesome! next time use the word zionist...because there is a BIG difference. there are jews who are against the zionists nation.
ps...considering her position, i'd say that shes fed up with that country using the USA!

Helen Thomas Apologizes for Saying Jews Should 'Get the Hell Out of Palestine' Published June 04, 2010
FOXNews.com
Veteran White House reporter Helen Thomas has issued an apology after saying in an interview that Jews should “get the hell out of Palestine.”
Thomas, a longtime White House correspondent who now writes a column for Hearst newspapers, made the comments May 27 after a White House Jewish heritage event.
Asked by Rabbi David Nesenoff of RabbiLive.com if she had “any comments on Israel,” Thomas replied, “Tell them to get the hell out of Palestine.”
Thomas went on to say that the Palestinian people “are occupied and it’s their land” and that Israelis should “go home” -- to Poland, Germany, America “and everywhere else.”
In a written statement issued Friday, Thomas apologized, saying, “I deeply regret my comments I made last week regarding the Israelis and the Palestinians.”
She said the comments “do not reflect” her “heart-felt belief that peace will come to the Middle East only when all parties recognize the need for mutual respect and tolerance.”
“May that day come soon,” she added.

I find it strange that as soon as someone talks about Jews almost the same moment they are made to apologize. Wheres the so called "freedom of speech"? Makes me think that her life was under threat or something. Well I dont hate jews either, infact I have nothing against them except the fact that they took land which is not theirs so I think it is fair to say get out of Palestine! She said nothing wrong at all!
Just breifly could someone please explain the difference between zionists and Jews living in Israel because I really cant tell the difference.
@muslimah
i agree with the haveing to apolgize part. she didnt do anything wrong! she is an american and has the right to voice her opinion without worrying about her safety. i was even thinking maybe she would be in danger.
so a jew is someone who follows the follows the religion. (taken from wiki) zionisim is a nationalist[1] Jewish political movement that, in its broadest sense, calls for the self-determination of the Jewish people and a sovereign, Jewish national homeland
To me I don't htink it makes a difference if she didn't use that word.
Angie you are an Arab...yes? My husband is an Arab and many other people. BUT, if you say anything against someone who is Jewish you are anti-semetic?
If Arabs and "Jews" are cousins, how in the world can an Arab be anti-semetic.
And also, what exactly then is Jewish heritage month about? If it is about following a religion?
@salma,
i just consider myself Lebanese American (i consider all middle eastern countries each have their own race). some people say its arab...some say not, but i dont care eaither way.
but i do know that both muslims and christians are semetic. so i dont go for that whole anti semetic stuff. to me its a way for zionists to make others seem prejudice. that would be true if being jewish was a race, but its not, its a religion anyone can convert to.
i'm really happy someone from washington had the gutts to open their mouth for once :)
Judaism is an ethnoreligious group. Anyone can also move to Lebanon, start speaking Arabic and become Lebanese. I know many Italians who have lived in Lebanon for generations and consider themselves just as Lebanese as you.
I am an Arab Jew. I consider myself an Arab but the majority of Arab Christians and Muslims do not see me as one. So how do I identify?
Hi Syrian Yahudi,
if your a syrian jew...then thats what you are. your race is syrian, and your relgion is jewish.
there have been jews all over the middle east for years. but the issue isnt really with them. its with the zionists who moved to palestine and decided to make their own country. durring there travels to get to palsetine..they collected the middle eastern jewish people and promised them free land and other things...the middle eastern jews who stayed in there countries became such a minority.
there are Lebanese jews, joradanian jews,syrian jews. and i really have no problem with the jewish people...it zionists.
because jewish is a religion...not a race or ethnicity...why? because we were all jews! there were pagans or jews...then came christianity and islam...but we were all jews. so we are all equal
You forgot to mention that we suffered severe discrimination in Israel under the Ashkenazim. Honestly I never identified much with the Jewish nation. I have olive skin and dark hair like you. I am an Arab, and damn proud to be one. I am also proud to be Jewish though.
You referred to me as Syrian, but do you consider me Arab? As Arab as a Christian or Muslim?
I like your blog, btw.
to me the word arab almost seems racist. it takes away from the individuality of each country and culture.
at the same time i dont mind people who use the word arab.
so to answer your question...yes you are just as arab as me a christian...and our brothers and sisters who are muslim!
our religion doesnt seperate us :)
