I've been away for a very long time.... after G'pa passed away i decided not to blog for a while (I did use Facebook though).
In Lebanon when someone passes away, there’s a 30 day mourning phase, then usually a service (at least for the Maronite population). Most families will go a lot longer or even a year in the mourning phase. Families’ will do without TV, skip holidays and celebrations of any type in order to show respect for the person who is no longer with us. Some people wear black...and some women even let go of makeup and hair.
Just recently one of my brother-in-law's was very upset. Because some of the family back in Lebanon, decided to put up a Christmas tree. I truly believe G’pa would want everyone to be happy and celebrate the holidays, but everyone has their own views, and I can respect that!
For my family (Marcel, River and me) we decided to celebrate the holiday. We have a Christmas tree and will be exchanging gifts.
A lot has happened since I last posted. Marcel is in remission…that means no cancer. He stopped taking the SGN-35 because he has so much nerve damage…but it did the job. I truly believe that SGN-35 will change the way Hodgkin’s is treated for the 10% of patients who never reach remission, or who continue to relapse. And I finally met someone else who is taking the drug, and after 1 treatment her body is already experiencing pain relief…amazing right? I think so..and I wish this drug is approved by the FDA soon so that other families can experience miracles as well.
I hope everyone is doing great….i will be spending the next few days catching up on all of your blogs…I really miss reading the blogs I follow.
